Selection, Preparation, and Presentation.

This is a great opportunity for your child to learn more in the Dairy goat industry!

Classroom and hands-on practice, culminates into a final showmanship competition, divided by age groups, according to the 4-H rules. We will adjust classes based upon numbers, within age ranges, so they are balanced.

Get prepared to be part of the ultimate Youth Showmanship Goat Camp. Our committee has worked hard to provide an opportunity for the kids starting out, to get a great foundation, in a friendly and inviting atmosphere.

We have a great week planned for you to enjoy some family fun!

The format for Showmanship is the same as it has been, focusing on selection, preparation, and presentation. This year we have added more hands on segments. Each child entered will receive a printed work book, along with a personalized t-shirt to wear the first day to camp.

The work books include selection diagrams in conformation and a segment on birthing positions, provided by a wonderful artist.

Other fun activities are the Quiz Bowl Contest, along with a Nacho Party dinner on the first night. More fun includes a Scavenger Hunt, Puzzles, Games, and a Costume Contest.

Herdsman Award for both Market and Dairy.

Pen Decorating Contest awards for first and second place.

The youth, in both camps, will spend part of the camp together as a group and then be grouped for their respective interest in Showmanship.

Some of the things they will learn: Collection for a fecal and exam under microscope, score cards, proper position in setting up and bracing for show, grooming, clipping, nutrition and feeding, show ring etiquette, proper dress, and so much more.

Enter as soon as possible because the camps fill up quick. Plan to be busy for three solid days. If you enter, get plenty of rest prior to this event. It is intense and so much fun. See you in Sedalia, MO.

Midwest Buck Sale, LLC will take reasonable care to insure the safety of exhibits and property, but the owner must take the risk of exhibiting. In no case will Midwest Buck Sale, LLC be responsible for any loss, damage or injury to property or persons while on the Missouri State fairgrounds, or at any other time or place, nor be liable or required to make any payment for damage, loss or injury. All that enter any event or sign up for anything related to the Midwest Buck Sale, agree: “I have read the contract and agree to abide by all Midwest Buck Sale rules and regulations as witnessed by entering the events May 27-31, 2025.“
